Week Four 2/4

Rethinking My Options... Again...

After being on set and shooting the reporter’s scene, I started to question how I was going to film the flat tire scene. I quickly realized that filming the flat tire was going to take a lot of planning. I was thinking of using a mix of sounds with images. Using the right sound effect was going to key in making it look real.  Additionally, apart from making it look like it was popped, I could maybe just deflate the tire, get the shots I need, and inflate it again. Furthermore, after completing the group meeting in class, I was able to receive multiple different types of tips and feedback. Specifically, one of my fellow classmates recommended that instead of getting a flat tire, the car should have an engine problem. I thought about it and buying a smoke bomb and placing it underneath the car could potentially make it look as if the car had a malfunction. Even though this was a great idea, another classmate recommend that instead of the flat tire, using the lack of gasoline as an excuse for which my main characters had to pull over. She recommended that I simply record the cars’s dashboard when the “low gas” warning goes on. Personally, this idea sounds the easiest but I don’t want to have an average looking project, which is why I am deciding to use the smoke boom as the reason for which my characters had to pull over. Scroll down to look at a picture of what type of boom I’m planning to use and the effect I’m trying to create.
