Week Four 1/4

AND... ACTION…

It has begun, yesterday was my first day on set and it was a complete success. We had to start from the end due to the fact that Ricardo was unable to film. But apart from that, it was amazing. We recorded the reporter's part which involved Nicole standing in front of the abandoned car and reporting the breaking news. As seen in the video below, we used Santiagos car and we placed traffic cones as well as red “danger” tape all around the car to make it look as if police officers had closed off the area to the public.

Here is the video of Nicole reporting the breaking news

As seen in the video, the shot has an overall dark look. This is a mistake that I was unable to catch while on set and will be fixed on post-production. Another mistake that I was sadly unable to control was the car that passed while Nicole was reporting. I plan to fix this by editing that pice out and adding some b-roll of the abandoned car. Additionally, I just wanted to point out that the sound of the video above is not the actual sound going to be used for the final product. I decided to hide a small microphone underneath of Nicole's dress in order to record the best possible dialogue sound.

Apart from the amazing looking set, I also created my very own microphone box. This consisted of using an old cardboard box and cutting out the right dimensions in order to make it fit on the microphone. After that was done, I glued all the sides together and added a white piece of paper to make it look as professional as possible. The final step was adding the “channel 101 news” logo and sliding the mic through it.
