Time to start editing
And just like that, the editing week has started. I honestly can't believe how fast time has passed. We are now on week six of this project and I am thrilled to say that so far I am happy with my work. After the last couple of weeks, I managed to film basically all the shots need for my film opening. I have now started to edit all of those shots in order to get the ball moving. Additionally, the results have me very happy so scroll down to take a look at how I edit.
As seen above, I have only edited the opening scene of the film opening. This scene involves Santiago and his friends packing the car up and leaving for their trip. Consequently, this scene shows how Santiago and his friends get ready in four main shots. The first shot was filmed using the wide mode on my iPhone in order to get the largest frame possible. The shot is handheld and includes multiple different pans and tilts. This shots shows how Santiago opens the trunk and puts all the road trip supplies inside the car. The opening then cuts to a low angle shot from inside the car and shows Santiago placing the items inside the car and then as Santiago is closing the tailgate the camera cuts to a medium shot from the outside. This is used to transition between the two different shots and because I personally believe that it helps the video have an overall better flow. Additionally, the third shot of this scene is the medium shot of Santiago actually closing the tailgate and getting behind the wheel of the car. Finally, the last shot of this scene is a medium shot recorded from a low angle as Santiago is pulling away from the driveway and driving off to the distance. Overall, I am very satisfied in the way that the opening scene of my film opening turned out. Tune in tomorrow for the editing post of the second scene.
